Description of Works
This series of oil on canvas paintings depicts various views of polar arctic sea ice. Utilizing light, colour, and a shifting horizon to evoke hour and mood, each work renders a distinct perspective on water, ice, and sky. Grays, blues, whites, and purples combine to reflect the dynamic nature of the elements in this magnificent and rugged terrain. At centre is the shifting relationship between sea and sky, as the depth and sheer spread of the horizon invite the viewer to merge with the ceaseless expansion.
